Double Robotics’ Double
Can’t be in two places at once? That’s where Double Robotics’ Double wheels in, letting an iPad be your eyes and ears when you can’t be there. Dubbed “wheels for your iPad,” it’s a mobile 15-pound robot that holds any camera-equipped iPad, and you control it with another iOS device. The two devices set up a teleconference, putting you virtually in the Double’s place. Users can direct the Double’s movements remotely, change its height or put down a kickstand to make it stay put. Its makers tout the robot as a business tool, but it’s also aimed at college campuses, retail stores and families who want to stay in touch.
